The long journey is finally coming to end. It was very tiring throughout these 2 weeks. I have to sacrifice a lot of times of playing computer games in order to do my work. The long hours in school had already take up so much of my time and I could only choose between playing computer games or sleep. I also had to force myself to do the research since I keep lacking to motivation to do my work. Having to do 2 portfolio within 2 weeks is also very tiring. I keep hoping that all this will be over soon. Just need to take in another day and I can finally leave EIR for good.
Although all this is tiring, it was enjoyable at the same time, i get to have social netowrking with my friends and make funny comments on their blog,twitter and facebook. I had learnt a lot of things through this 2 weeks like leveling up my skill of doing research. There is also this 3days workshop where i learnt more about microsoft word and powerpoint presentation. I was able to apply these skills to do it on my portfolio. I also made new friends through EIR and whats best is that I can complete 1 more CDS before the school starts. That makes 3 CDS which is the minimum requirement i must take before i graduate from poly. I don't regret coming to poly 2 months before the actual school starts.

Sienzz... Reflection for Tutor 5 & 6
I think that teamwork is pretty important in contributing to the wiki page. I learnt what kind of website is presentable to put into wiki so that it actually contributes to the topic that I have to research on. Through contribute to the wiki page, I have gained some skills in finding the right article for any topic that I have to research on in the future. I have also learnt more information through reading what my group members has posted on wiki. Those informations are quite interesting because it is a bit different from what I contribute to the wiki. They even posted videos and pictures to keep the reader’s attention and entertain them before they get bored over reading the many words in the article.
The most challenging experience I had is to find the right article to post to wiki. I was quite hard as some of them were not relevant enough to fit into the topic. Some of them are even too short for me to present my share. The information provided also have to be accurate as giving the wrong information will bring harm to the readers especially those who are going to take in the advice given by the information.
I would advice the next batch of wiki groups to follow through the effective internet research lesson attentively and carefully before selecting the article before putting their share up to the wiki page. However, they can also refer to do work done by the previous batch to help find the right article to fill it in. I recommend them to use the criterias given to choose the right article.
I think that I will not use wiki to do my research in my Diploma because I rather rely on search engines that give relevant search results and as well millions of search results. Overall, I do not really like to use wiki because other search engines have better functions to search for my research topics.

Last reflection. YAY!!
Through twitter, i was able to reply what my classmates say about twitter through short sentences. I am also able to type in short sentences of what i want to tell my classmates. Compared to blogging, i think blogging is better because i can post very long passage and there is no limit of words. People can also comment on my post. However it is harder to find your friend's through blog because you have to add in links to your blog in order to find others. I still think that blogging is better than twitter, because of the word limit that twitter gives.
I think i can use twitter for research purpose by asking other people little comments about my research topic. I can get some points or ideas for my research topic and do some research about those points through my favourite search engine 'Google'. As for blog, i can type in what i learnt about my research topic and i can eloborate more on my research by looking at what i have typed in.

My dream holiday
My dream holiday is to travel around japan viewing all the beautiful scenes such as this cherry blossom here. Other than beautiful scenes, japan have very delicious food like takoyaki and sticky rice. Although japan food is sold in Singagore, i think that japan have the original taste and would be even more delicious than the ones in Singapore. Anime is also one of the reason i want to go to Japan. Animes are much favourited in Singapore because of the nice drawing and the cool animation made by the designer. The language used was so cool that many people tried to learn Japanese from these animes. I would want to go to Japan and hopefully find footage not released in Sinagpore.
I used the criteria content because I just want to enjoy reading how lovely it is to visit Japan with all the attraction sites. I think that content is very important because it is the main portion of the article. The content of those sites were very interesting and I get to know more about the place.

Reflection 7
Today I went exploring about a citizen journalism. The website is http://www.stomp.com.sg/ . It is a site for singaporeans to update all the sinagapore news, any member can update anything into the site. One criteria i used is coverage, the content of the articles i found were quite interesting because its something that doesnt usually happen. For example, a motorcycle parking at a car slot. It was quite enjoyable reading through the contents in stomp, because its basically their thoughts about a certain topic. I chose content as the criteria because it is the main criteria of any article. An article needs its criteria to let the reader know what the user is trying to deliver.
Through this activity, I learnt more ways of how to view an article wether it is a good article or not. Things like reliable and update can determine wether the article is good or bad. I've also discovered more functions of what stomp can do, like opening a discussion for everyone to discuss what they think about a certain topic. Overall the activity was quite enjoyable and iIwas able to keep myself more updated.

Reflection 6
I think that it is more effective to use search engines than invisible web, meta-search or subject directory. The invisible web only gives a total of two links related to my search results. Even though the two links were quite related to my research topic, Google gives more related search results than the invisible web. I would be able to add in more information to my project using Google than the invisible web. I would say that invisible web is also quite reliable because the search results shown were related to what I am trying to find.

Reflection 5
Today is my first time trying different search engines that I normally use, the search engines that I normally use are Google and Yahoo. I get to learn about meta search engine and even use it to find the research topic. The research results from this meta search engine are actually combination of many other search engine and compile into a few results. Thus the meta search engine, by right, will actually be a more reliable search engine than the normal ones, even though it gives only about a hundred search results. When I try my research topic on Metacrawler (meta search engine), the search results given were actually not very related to my topic. The links given were not as useful as the ones compared to Google. This is because meta search engine eliminated to useful website when some of the search engine don’t have those useful website. Thus meta search engine was not very useful to my research topic. There is also this yahoo directory that acts like a search engine to find the related websites based on my research topic, it was however not very useful to my project because the links were not very related to my research topic. In conclusion, I feel that I will stick with the normal search engines like Google and Yahoo to do my project.
It is my first time doing site feeding today, I had trouble doing site feeding because the instruction given was not very clear and I had to ask my friend in order to continue my site feeding. Today I learnt about the functions and features of using Google search engine. I was impressed by how many people are actually using this search engine every day. The boss of Google can actually earn money even when he is sleeping. The Google search engine can actually give me millions of results based on the topic research that I put in. There are so many pages of results that I could only browse through the first few pages and hopefully get what I wanted. This search engine is also quite reliable because the search results were quite related to my topic, I could use the website given to help me in my project. I could also translate my research topic into another language using the translation tool given by Google. This is helpful because some websites are written in a language other than English, I would have trouble finding the website if I keep typing in English to find the related website.
At first, I felt that I would not get any reply from the forum because the topic I have posted is not really related the type of forum I put in. Many people used that forum to discuss about the games they are playing and give tips on how to do a certain quest. My topic is “Discuss the impact of online gaming on youths”, so I did not expect any reply. However, that thread I posted had already reached three pages of reply and some of the replies were very useful in doing my project. The website shows many different kind of gadget on sale and has listed the price. Customers go to that website to view the products that they are interested in. They will then choose the products that are suitable and order it online. The product that the customer chooses will then be delivered to their home.

Reflection 2
Today we had just started our portfolio. It seem difficult at first because of all the task we have to do before the end of the CDS comes. But seeing the table of content for the portfolio, i only need to do 5pages of research. However, the example of the portfolio that was given to me had 40 over pages. It looks very complicated that i decided to not refer to it. I could only depend on the table of content to continue doing my portfolio. Most of the time, i stared at my computer screen, looking at my portfolio as if it wonn't progress any further. I was not really sure what to add on.
I also learn about the booleon operator which can help me filter out the search results that i wanted. By putting in 'AND' in between the two words that i want to find, i can narrow down my search results because it will only give result that have both of the two words.

There is a huge difference in the number of results found when we type in the topic of the information that we want. I have always wanted to get a new laptop so that i can perfectly play my online game.
My current laptop somewhat slows down everytime when i want to summon a huge monster which takes up a lot of RAM.
This laptop should be able to allow me to play the game more smoothly and let me have an enjoyable gaming experience.
I feel that the features in this laptop will also be able to help me to research on my projects more effeciently since my current laptop could not download some of the latest features.

Today is the start of a new CDS called 'effective internet research'.
I created quite a few accounts today to keep trackwith my lecturer.
I already had msn and facebook. , but i didn't have blog , twitter and the wiki accounts.
This is my first time using a blog so i had a little trying to edit or posting.
It was only day one and i was asked to do so much work to submit by the end of the march.
It was quite stressing and i was not able to fully understand what the lecturer was trying to deliver.
I hope that the next lesson will clear some doubts about the subject , and i hope its not as tiring as seems.
I missed having lessons in japanese culture with my classmates, as well as the transnational studies. Hope i will be able to have an activity with them again.
