Reflection 5

Today is my first time trying different search engines that I normally use, the search engines that I normally use are Google and Yahoo. I get to learn about meta search engine and even use it to find the research topic. The research results from this meta search engine are actually combination of many other search engine and compile into a few results. Thus the meta search engine, by right, will actually be a more reliable search engine than the normal ones, even though it gives only about a hundred search results. When I try my research topic on Metacrawler (meta search engine), the search results given were actually not very related to my topic. The links given were not as useful as the ones compared to Google. This is because meta search engine eliminated to useful website when some of the search engine don’t have those useful website. Thus meta search engine was not very useful to my research topic. There is also this yahoo directory that acts like a search engine to find the related websites based on my research topic, it was however not very useful to my project because the links were not very related to my research topic. In conclusion, I feel that I will stick with the normal search engines like Google and Yahoo to do my project.

It is my first time doing site feeding today, I had trouble doing site feeding because the instruction given was not very clear and I had to ask my friend in order to continue my site feeding. Site feeding gives links to another blog of my friend, this is very convenient because I can visit my friend’s blog by just 1 click away the next time I visit my own blog. I always could not remember the link of my friend’s blog because some of them have very long link. Thus I like this site feeding where I can visit my friend’s blog for any updates anytime.

I like collaborating on Wiki with other students who share the similar research topic as I, because I get to have more information on my topic by compiling all the information together in Wiki. The information in Wiki will get more and more when the other students and I add in more information we found on the web. The final outcome of Wiki will have loads of information about my research topic.
